We are driven by core beliefs that:

  • The world’s economies will only thrive when women and men participate equally. This means equal participation at every level in the work force, and in positions of power and decision-making globally.
  • One of the best ways to advance the role and participation of women is for women to share their collective intelligence and experiences with each other. This is why we created The Way Women Work.

Meet Our Team

Founder: Rania Habiby Anderson

Throughout my professional and civic life, I have been driven and passionate about learning about, contributing to, and guiding the way women work.

Today, I primarily coach, advise, write for and speak with and to women entrepreneurs and professionals in developing and emerging markets. I have interviewed, researched, worked and spoken with business and professional women at all levels in the small business, corporate, nonprofit, and public sectors around the world distilling key insights into the success strategies of women globally.

Before launching The Way Women Work, I enjoyed a wonderfully rewarding early corporate career at Bank of America attaining a senior leadership position. In 1997, I became an entrepreneur founding and growing an executive coaching and consulting practice Meridian. In 2009, I co-founded the 8th Angel investor network in the United States of America,  the Women’s Capital Connection and began investing in women-led businesses.

I am a regular contributor to the business magazine The Next Women, a syndicated writer for Women 2.0 and have had my articles published in Forbes.com, Huffington Post and the Kansas City Star. In recognition of my work around the world in March 2012, I was honored to be named a Top Global Woman by the Diplomatic Courier.

I grew up primarily in the Middle East and also in India, Iran, and England. I came to the United States in 1978 to pursue higher education and have a Masters degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University with an honors concentration in business and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Oklahoma State University.

Underpinning my work and passion is a deep commitment to serve and support women’s organizations. I serve as the president of the Kansas chapter of the International Women’s Forum, a by-invitation-only, pre-eminent global organization for women of significant and diverse achievement. I was a delegate to Vision 2020, a decade-long project focused on advancing gender equality and participated in the inaugural Wall St Journal Task Force on Women in the Economy.  I sit on the advisory board member of the Women’s Employment Network, a nonprofit organization that prepares and trains women for employment in Kansas City, and am a former board member of the Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City.

Director of Digital: Erin Risner

I’m honored to bring my passions and expertise to The Way Women Work team as the Director of Digital.

My primary focus is on developing and cultivating our online communities, communications, strategy, content, opportunities, and network of successful women and business network’s around the globe.

I previously spent four years at Water.org, a global nonprofit dedicated to helping communities get safe water and sanitation. As a member of Water.org’s marketing and communication’s team and in my role as the Digital Marketing Programs Manager, I helped build a robust online presence, community, brand, and expand all grassroots communication and fundraising efforts. I also visited programs in Bangladesh and Haiti.

Before my time at Water.org, I spent time in Vietnam, China, Philippines, Mexico, and Lithuania. I graduated from Drury University with a Bachelors degree in Integrated Media and Global Studies. For the past three years I have been Board Secretary for Girls to School, which is a nonprofit working in West Africa that creates access to education and microfinance for women and girls to break the cycle of poverty. Today, I support at the Women’s Employment Network in Kansas City, Missouri, and participate in 1 Million Cups, the weekly entrepreneurial community meeting in KC (we have Google Fiber!); Last April, I spoke at the edSocialMedia Summit conference in San Francisco and started my own marketing consulting business, ExplodingSoul LLC.

We have a lot of exciting things in the pipeline at The Way Women Work, and a growing community of sharp, avid readers (like you!) who inspire us on a daily basis.
